How to Submit a Tech Pack to Nanbin
A tech pack — also called a specification sheet or production brief — is the engineering blueprint for your product. If you have one ready, your order takes the fastest route from inquiry to sampling. This article explains what to include, how to send it, and what happens next.
What Is a Tech Pack and Why It Matters
A tech pack translates your product idea into measurable specifications that our production team can follow directly. Orders submitted with a complete tech pack do not require back-and-forth clarification on materials, measurements, or construction — we build exactly what the document describes.
For OEM clients, a tech pack is the fastest path to an accurate quote and a first sample that matches your design. For us, it removes guesswork and shortens the sampling cycle.
What a Complete Tech Pack Should Include
The more detail your tech pack contains, the closer the first sample will be to your expectation. Here is what we look for:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Flat sketch or 3D render | Front and back view with measurements and construction callouts |
| Size specification chart | Measurements for each size (bust, waist, hip, rise, length, etc.) with tolerance |
| Fabric composition | Percentage breakdown (e.g., 80% Nylon + 20% Spandex) and weight (GSM) |
| Color references | Pantone codes preferred over color names |
| Hardware and trims | Zipper type, hook-and-eye, boning, pads, and any custom hardware |
| Construction details | Stitch type, seam finish, elastic placement, compression zones |
| Label and packaging | Brand label, care label, hangtag, poly bag, carton requirements |
If your tech pack is a work in progress, send what you have. We can flag missing items and still give preliminary feedback.
How to Submit Your Tech Pack
You can submit your tech pack through any of these channels:
- Email — Attach your file to an inquiry sent to our sales team
- WeTransfer or Google Drive — For larger files or multiple packs
- Alibaba — Upload directly through our Alibaba storefront
We accept the following formats:
- PDF — Preferred. Ensure all layers are flattened and dimensions are readable.
- Adobe Illustrator (AI) — Editable vector format, useful if we need to extract measurements.
- CAD files — Accepted for clients who design in industrial pattern software.
- Hand-drawn sketches — Also accepted, as long as measurements are clearly marked.
Include a short message with your submission: your estimated quantity, target timeline, and any specific notes about the design. This helps us prepare a complete response alongside the quote.
What Happens After We Receive Your Tech Pack
Once your tech pack arrives, here is the standard workflow:
- Review — Our team reviews the document for completeness and producibility
- Feedback — If anything is missing or unclear, we respond within 24 hours with specific questions
- Quotation — We prepare a formal quote covering unit price, MOQ, and lead time
- Sampling — After order confirmation, the tech pack goes directly to our pattern and sample department

Common Tech Pack Mistakes That Delay Quotes
These issues are the most common reason our team needs to follow up before quoting:
- Missing size chart — Without measurements, unit pricing assumes a standard range, which may change later
- Fabric composition not specified — Fabric cost is the largest variable in unit price
- Color names without Pantone codes — “Black” or “Nude” can mean different shades; Pantone codes guarantee accuracy
- Hardware specifications omitted — Zipper length, hook size, and pad thickness affect both cost and sourcing time
- No packaging instructions — Packaging type (poly bag, EVA tray, display box) affects final carton dimensions and freight cost
Avoiding these gaps keeps the quote cycle to one round rather than three.
What If My Tech Pack Is Incomplete
If your tech pack does not include every item on the list, send it anyway. We will note what is missing and provide options. For example, if you do not have a size chart, we can work from our standard grading scale for the product type and adjust later.
If you do not have a tech pack at all, see What Information Do I Need to Prepare Before Sampling — we can work from product descriptions and reference images through our ODM process.
Have a tech pack ready? Send it to us and we will get back to you with a quote within 24 hours.
